GRID EXHIBITION BY WINIFRED BEAUMONT Caspa, above Stonemans Bookshop
Start: Fri 6, 9, 2019. 6 p.m. | End: Fri 6, 9, 2019. 8 p.m.
Exhibition runs from 6 to 29 September, 10am-5pm
For more than 20 years, Winifred has been working grids. The use of the grid in art has tradition as long as humankind; however, in the 20th century, Kasimir Malevitch is probably recognised as one of the earliest exponents. Other artists who have employed grids include Piet Mondrian, Leon Polk-Smith, Paul Klee, Camille Graeser, Francois Morellet, Max Bill, Gerhard Richter and many others.
Winifred is exploring how colours interact with each other to create patterns and atmospheres within the formal structure. These can be vibrant, bright, subtle and/or subdued.
This exhibition, which would consist of a selection of grid paintings from 2000 to the present, a homage to some of her favourite artists from the last 100 years or so who have used the grid.
